Love
Book V, 249
Translated by W. R. Paton (1916–18) · From The Greek Anthology (Loeb, vol. I, 1916)
O naughty Rhodope, now yielding to the arrows of Cypris, and forswearing thy insufferable pride, you hold mein your arms by your bed, and I lie, it seems, in chains with no desire for liberty. Thus do souls and languid bodies meet, mingled by the streams of love.
This translation is printed as prose in its source edition.
