Nature
Book IX, 376
Translated by W. R. Paton (1916–18) · From The Greek Anthology (Loeb, vol. III, 1917)
Nature
Way, foolish carpenter, dost thou make of me, the pine-tree that am the victim of the winds, a ship to travel over the seas, and dreadest not the omen? Boreas persecuted me on land ; so how shall I escape the winds at sea?
