Love
Book XII, 97
Translated by W. R. Paton (1916–18) · From The Greek Anthology (Loeb, vol. IV, 1918)
Eupeatammus is ruddy red like Love, as far as Meriones, the captain of the Cretans; but from Meriones onwards Podaleirius no longer goes back to the Dawn: see how envious Nature, the universal mother, is. For if his lower parts were equal to his upper he would excel Achilles, the grandson of Aeacus.
This translation is printed as prose in its source edition.
Codex Note
