Death & Dying

Dirge

Death & Dying

Woe, woe!
Woe! my soul's woe!
She is departed,
I—broken hearted;
Woe! my soul's woe!

O'er my dark hours
Wretchedness pours
Thousands of curses and pains—
Nothing remains.

Nothing for sorrow
To smite with to-morrow;
Sorrow has emptied its quiver,
Emptied for ever.

And my sad soul
Stands at the goal
Where suffering's exhausted; I crave
Nought but a grave.
