Book X, 25

by Antipater of Thessalonica fl. c. 10 BC – AD 20

Translated by W. R. Paton (1916–18) · From The Greek Anthology (Loeb, vol. IV, 1918)

Living

Phoebus, guardian of the Cephallenians’ harbour, dwelling on the beach of Panormus that faces rough Ithaca, grant that I may sail to the Asian land through favouring waves in the wake of Piso’s lang ship. And attune my doughty emperor to be kind to him and kind to my verses.
