Of Divine Precepts

by Thomas Bancroft fl. 1633–1658

From Two Bookes of Epigrammes, and Epitaphs (1639), Book II

Social Commentaries

How good is God! whose every sweete command
Doth with the soules and bodies safety stand,
Whose true and happy preservation lies
In antidotes of vertuous exercise:
But vice is like a worme, that Canker sets
Into the Bone, and harder Conscience frets.
