Living

Epigram XLI

by Bhartrihari traditionally 5th–7th century AD

Translated by Paul Elmer More (1898) · From A Century of Indian Epigrams (1898)

Living

Unworthy be the toil-polluted world of sense,
Ay, hateful as the camping-ground of all offense;
Yet even in the truth-devoted heart, anon
Breaks forth its vast unnamed impetuous vehemence.
