Living

Epigram LXII

by Bhartrihari traditionally 5th–7th century AD

Translated by Paul Elmer More (1898) · From A Century of Indian Epigrams (1898)

Living

While other birds at will may go
Where the free winds of heaven blow,
You, silly prattler, as the wage
Of your sweet singing, languish in a cage.
