Living

Epigram LXXIV

by Bhartrihari traditionally 5th–7th century AD

Translated by Paul Elmer More (1898) · From A Century of Indian Epigrams (1898)

Living

When like an arrow in the dark
Sorrow hath made our breast her mark,
Piercing the mail 'twixt link and link,
One balm there is, one salve: just not to think.
