An ever-living lamp I shine
To Canopista, power divine ;
With twenty matches I appear,
And Crita’s daughter plac’d me here,
To pay what for her son she ow’d,
What, for Appelles, late she
And when my light you first espy,
You’d swear the stars had left the sky.
