The Mind

Denial is the only fact

by Emily Dickinson 1830–1886

From Further Poems of Emily Dickinson (1929)

The Mind

Denial is the only fact
Received by the denied,
Whose will, a blank intelligence
The day the Heaven died—
And all the Earth strove common round
Without delight or aim.
What comfort was it Wisdom was
The spoiler of our home?
