The Mind
Expectation is contentment;
From Further Poems of Emily Dickinson (1929)
The Mind
Expectation is contentment;
Gain, satiety.
But satiety, conviction
Of necessity.
Of an austere trait in pleasure.
Good, without alarm,
Is a too serene possession—
Danger deepens suns.
