Living

Jean and Kitty

by Mary Mapes Dodge 1831–1905

From Rhymes and Jingles (1875)

Living

How did they learn that their ways were small?
Jean and Kitty--
How did they know they were scorned by all?
Jean and Kitty.
Why, they listened one day, at a neighbor's blinds,
And heard the family speak their minds--
What a pity!
