Death & Dying

Book VIII, 32: On the Same

by Gregory of Nazianzus 4th century AD (Paton’s date)

Translated by W. R. Paton (1916–18) · From The Greek Anthology (Loeb, vol. II, 1917)

Death & Dying

Cup of my paps, holy sprout, Gregory, I go, as I longed, to the heavenly life. Much didst thou toil to tend my own and thy father’s old age, and all this is written in the great book of Christ. But follow thy parents, dear, and we shall soon receive thee gladly to our splendour.
