by Sir John Harington 1560–1612

Social Commentaries

THe wise Vlisses loathing forraine Iarres,
Fain'd himselfe mad, to keep him from the wars:
But our Don Pedro seekes our Martiall schooles,
Prefers before wise cowards Martiall fooles.
And fearing faining mad will not suffice,
To stay him from the warres, faines himselfe wise.
