Social Commentaries
To Levinus
From Clarastella (1650), Epigrams, Lib. 2
Social Commentaries
I'have lent Sharke monies, which Levinus, you
Perswade me, long put off, he'l pay me now:
When tro? at the Greek Calends? when the Fleet
Wants guests? when he and I; two Sundaies meet?
If he solve he, deceives me, if not, he
Cozens me worse; stil I deceiv'd must be
Whither he pay or not: I'ad rather tho
Be thus deceiv'd then cozend: tel him so!
