Love

A Slave to Love

by Judah Halevi c. 1075–1141

Translated by Nina Salaman (1924) · From Selected Poems of Jehudah Halevi (Jewish Publication Society, 1924)

Love

By the life of our troth, my love, by thy life and the life
Of love which hath shot an arrow at me,
Verily have I become a slave to Love, that hath pierced
Mine ear, that hath cloven my heart in twain.
