O My Steed, Thy Father Was Bedon
Translated by Alexander Chodzko (1842) · From Specimens of the Popular Poetry of Persia (1842)
O my steed, thy father was Bedon; thy mother Koldan. On! on! my worthy Kyrat, carry me to Chamly-bill! Leave me not here amongst unbelievers and foes, in the midst of the brown fog. On! on! my soul, Kyrat, carry me to Chamly-bill!
This translation is printed as prose in its source edition.
Codex Note
Kurroglou's song to his horse Kyrat, urging him to carry him home to Chamly-bill.
