Flattered on My Youth

by Walter Savage Landor 1775–1864

From Works and Life, ed. Forster, vol. VIII (1876)

Living

Flatter me not with idle tales of youth,
But rather flatter me than tell the truth:
My youth might not have gone had you been by,
And you been happy, tho' far less than I.
