The Sea Has Depths No Plummet-Line

by Walter Savage Landor 1775–1864

From Works and Life, ed. Forster, vol. VIII (1876)

Living

The sea has depths no plummet-line
Can reach, no science can divine;
And earth has poems so profound
No line can ever reach the ground;
They fly about in empty air,
And" boys catch at 'em here and there.
