Book VI, 44
Translated by W. R. Paton (1916–18) · From The Greek Anthology (Loeb, vol. I, 1916)
To the must-bibbing Satyrs and to Bacchus the planter of the vine did Heronax consecrate these three casks of fresh wine filled from three vineyards, the first-fruits of his planting. We, having first poured what is right from them to purple Bacchus and the Satyrs, will drink more than the Satyrs.
This translation is printed as prose in its source edition.
