Love

Spring Heart-break

by Liu Fang-p’ing 8th or 9th century AD

Translated by Witter Bynner and Kiang Kang-hu (1929) · From The Jade Mountain (1929)

Love

With twilight passing her silken window,
She weeps alone in her chamber of gold;
For spring is departing from a desolate garden,
And a drift of pear-petals is closing a door.
