Book VI, 70

by Macedonius the Consul 6th century AD

Translated by W. R. Paton (1916–18) · From The Greek Anthology (Loeb, vol. I, 1916)

Religion

O Kine of the sea and lord of the land, I, Crantas, dedicate to thee this my ship, no longer immerged in the sea—my ship, bird blown by the wandering winds, in which I, poor wretch, often thought I was being driven to Hades. Now, having renounced them all, fear, hope, sea, storms, I plant my steps confidently on dry land.
