Book X, Epigram 32 (Ker)
Translated by Walter C. A. Ker (1919–20) · From Epigrams (Loeb, 1919–20)
This picture which is honoured by me with violets and roses — ask you, Caedicianus, whose features it presents? Such was Marcus Antonius Primus in manhood's years: in this face the old man sees liimself in youth. Would that art could limn his character and mind! More beautiful in all the world would no painting be!
This translation is printed as prose in its source edition.
