Book XI, Epigram 36 (Ker)
Translated by Walter C. A. Ker (1919–20) · From Epigrams (Loeb, 1919–20)
Gaius Julius marks this day for me with a white stone: ho i see he comes, given back to my vows ' Glad am I that I despaired, as though the Sisters' threads were already snapped: they rejoice less who have known no fear. Hypnus, why linger, you laggard. Pour the immortal Falernian: such vows as mine call for an olden jar. Measures five and six and eight let us drink, that the name "Gaius Julius Proculus" be summed up.
