Book VII, Epigram 50 (Ker)
Translated by Walter C. A. Ker (1919–20) · From Epigrams (Loeb, 1919–20)
Fount of thy mistress, in which lanthis, queen of the spot, delights, glory and delight of a splendid house, when thy marge is decked with so many snow-white slaves and thy lucent wave reflects a band of Ganymedes, what means Alcides consecrate in yonder grove? Why holds the God a grot so near to thee? Keeps he guard over the Nymphs, known wantons, lest so many Hylases be rapt away together?
