Book IV, 79: On GLORIOSO
From Divine Fancies (1633), Book IV
Religion
He that relieves his brother in distresse,
And seeks no Applause, do's nothing lesse
Then lend to his Redeemer, laying downe
A worthlesse, to take up a Crowne:
But if vain-glory prompt thy tongue to boast,
It is not lent, Glorioso; 'Tis but lost.
