With a Lock of the Author’s Hair to a Gentleman who requested it
From Poetical Works, ed. Walter Scott (1810), vol. II

By Florio’s hand, be this light lock enwove,
But with the lily, cull’d from Friendship’s bowers,
That hides no thorns beneath its snowy flowers.
