Epigram 35: Not so strange as true
From The Nipping and Snipping of Abuses (1614)
Social Commentaries
The stately Stagge when he his hornes hath shedde,
In sullen sadnesse he deplores his losse:
But when a wife cornutes her husbands head,
His gaines in hornes he holdes an extreame Crosse.
The Stagge by loasing doth his losse complaine,
The man by gaining doth lament his gaine.
Thus whether hornes be either lost or found,
They both the loser and the winner wounde.
