Book IX, 434
Translated by W. R. Paton (1916–18) · From The Greek Anthology (Loeb, vol. III, 1917)
Living
Prefixed to a collection of Theocritus’ works Tue Chian Theocritus is another, but I, the Theocritus who wrote these poems, am one of the many Syracusans, the son of Praxagoras and noble Philinna. I admitted no verse that is other than genuine.
This translation is printed as prose in its source edition.
