Love

The Last Night

by Tu Mu AD 803–852

Translated by Herbert A. Giles (1898) · From Chinese Poetry in English Verse (1898)

Love

Old love would seem as though not love today;
Spell-bound by thee, my laughter dies away.
The very wax sheds sympathetic tears
And gutters sadly down till dawn appears.
