On His Birthday, Hymn 30
From Hymns and Sacred Poems (1749) · Osborn ed., vol. 5 (1869)
Religion
Thou God, that hear'st the prayer,
And dost in secret see,
I tell my softest care,
My closest grief to Thee,
To Thy Divine compassion
I earnestly commend
My friend in tribulation,
My poor afflicted friend.
