Psalm 90: While yet the ground I cumber

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

Religion

While yet the ground I cumber,
Spared by Thy patient grace,
Teach me aright to number
My few remaining days.
That, vise unto salvation,
I here may mortify
My every sense, and passion,
And die, before I die.
Thy servant. Lord, inspire
With faith that works by love;
And set my soul on fire
With hope of joys above.
Anointed by Thy Spirit,
O let my spirit rise.
And seek, and strive to' inherit
That kingdom in the skies.

To this my heart applying
With all my gracious power,
I would by daily dying,
Anticipate the hour;
The hour of my dismission
With patient love attend,
Till in that blissful vision
Both faith and sufferings end.
