For Our Enemies, Persecutors, and Slanderers

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Hymns of Intercession for All Mankind (1758) · Osborn ed., vol. 6 (1870)

History & Politics

Who hunt our souls with cruel scorn,
Who hate and vex us without cause,
Our bitterest persecutors turn,
Like those that nail'd Thee to Thy cross;
Freely by Thee, by us forgiven,
O let us meet our foes in heaven.
