Numbers 16:48: Jesus, the merciful and true

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 9 (1870)

Religion

Jesus, the merciful and true.
Between the dead and living stand.
The numerous dead, the living few
Who now divide Britannia's land!
Thou dost as in the midst appear,
Thou hast for all atonement made,
And through the incense of Thy prayer
The plague of unbelief is stay'd.
