Joshua 18:3: Backward alas, too long, and slack

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 9 (1870)

Religion

Backward alas, too long, and slack
To' accept the grace bestow'd,
The pardon now we gladly take,
The purity of God;
Boldly go up, in Jesu's name
Our portion to possess.
And confident, the land we claim
Of perfect righteousness.
