Religion

Great God, we to Thy servant go
From whom Thou once didst hide Thy face:
He offer'd up Himself below,
A victim for our wretched race,
Thy righteous servant and Thy Son,
He died for all mankind to' atone.

To Him we fly, at Thy command.
Who on Himself our sins did take.
Our cause we put into His hand.
And Christ our Advocate we make:
Who at His death did intercede.
Doth now His death for sinners plead.

Us that His righteous Spirit grieved,
He kindly makes His constant care;
Our injured Friend on earth who lived.
Thou hear'st in heaven His ceaseless prayer,
Accept in Thy beloved Son,
And save us for His sake alone.
