Waiting for Redemption

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Hymns and Sacred Poems (1749) · Osborn ed., vol. 4 (1869)

Religion

Who is the trembling sinner, who
That owns eternal death his due,
Waiting his fearful doom to feel,
And hanging o'er the mouth of hell!

Peace, troubled soul, thou need'st not fear,
Thy Jesus cries, Be of good cheer,
Only on Jesu's blood rely,
He died, that thou mightst never die.
