Matthew 26: Jesus, my desperate helplessness

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 10 (1871)

Religion

Jesus, my desperate helplessness
Forced by ten thousand falls to own,
With fear and trembling I confess
One hour I cannot stand alone;
I surely shall myself betray,
My Lord perfidiously deny,
Left to myself this very 'day,
An Jiedas-Who. despair and die.
