Mark 6:3: The world with spurious wisdom blind

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 10 (1871)

Religion

The world with spurious wisdom blind
Always reject the true.
Occasion of oifence they find
In Him they never knew;
They stumble at His low estate
Who left His throne above.
Humbled Himself, to make us great
And crown us with His love.
