Luke 8:29: The slave to vile aff'ections sold

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 11 (1871)

Religion

The slave to vile aff'ections sold,
No laws can bind, no fetters hold;
By Satan's impulse driven
He haunts the ghastly wilderness,
Far from the pleasant paths of peace,
As far as hell from heaven.
