Acts 23: Bring him safe unto Felix the governor
From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 12 (1872)
Religion
The captain doth the priests defeat,
And saves his prisoner from their snare;
More mercy from the world we meet
Than those who fill the sacred chair;
Soldiers may mild and generous be,
To truth and equity inclined,
But justice and humanity
In wicked priests we never find.
