Anthony Raftery
Eleanor Hull's The Poem-Book of the Gael describes Anthony Raftery as having died at Craughwell, Co. Galway, in October 1835. He was an Irish-language poet.
The three poems gathered here are given in the English versions printed in Hull's anthology (London, 1913), by Douglas Hyde and Lady Gregory, and, for “The Shining Posy”, where no translator is named, by Hull herself.
