Boppe

fl. c. 1275–1290

Boppe was a late thirteenth-century wandering Spruchdichter praised by the later Meistersinger for his long, elaborate stanzas.

Two of his songs appear here in Frank C. Nicholson’s translation, Old German Love Songs (1907), made from the minnesingers of the twelfth to fourteenth centuries.

  1. God's Grace
  2. The Empty Purse
