Der Marner

Der Marner was a travelling Swabian poet of the mid-thirteenth century who wrote in Latin and German and composed love songs, riddles and didactic verse.

Two of his songs appear here in Frank C. Nicholson’s translation, Old German Love Songs (1907), made from the minnesingers of the twelfth to fourteenth centuries.
