Marbodius of Rennes
J. M. Neale calls Marbodus (Marbodius) successively Archdeacon of Angers and Bishop of Rennes, and says he died in 1125. His poem on precious stones, de Gemmis, had a high reputation in its time.
This file gives Neale's 1867 version of the prose 'Cives coelestis patriae', a sequence on the mystical meaning of precious stones. Neale says the ruggedness of his translation merely copies that of the original, which he thinks was meant for a high festival, probably a dedication.
