Owain Glyndŵr

Owain Glyndŵr (c. 1354–1416), Prince of Wales, led the Welsh revolt against English rule from 1400. He was the patron of the poet Iolo Goch, who celebrated his house at Sycharth.

The quatrain here is attributed to him in Borrow's source, as translated in Welsh Poems and Ballads (1915); the attribution is traditional and uncertain.
