Rhys Prichard

1579–1644

Rhys Prichard, "the Vicar Prichard", was vicar of Llandovery, whose moral verses in the free metres of the folk-song, collected as Canwyll y Cymry ("The Welshmen's Candle"), were loved in Wales for two centuries.

His poem "A Good Wife" is given in English verse by Alfred Perceval Graves in A Celtic Psaltery (1917).
