Johann Joseph Winkler

Johann Joseph Winkler (1670–1722) was a German pietist hymn-writer; his “Sollt ich aus Furcht vor Menschenkindern” appears in the Herrnhuth Collection and in Knapp’s Evangelischer Liederschatz.

The single piece here is John Wesley’s English translation, printed in Hymns and Sacred Poems (1739); Osborn’s footnote names Winkler as the author of the German original.
