The Letters of Cicero, Volume IV

Letters from the Ides of March 44 BC to July 43 BC, from Caesar's murder to the eve of the second triumvirate

by Cicero

Translated by Evelyn S. Shuckburgh (1900)

The fourth and last volume of Shuckburgh's chronological translation of Cicero's correspondence, carrying on the numbering of the third: the letters written after Caesar's assassination on the Ides of March 44 BC. They follow Cicero's retreat to his country villas, his growing quarrel with Antony and the Philippics, the war at Mutina, and the last anxious exchanges with Brutus, Cassius, Decimus Brutus, Plancus and Lepidus, down to the summer of 43 BC. Addressed to Atticus, Tiro, Cornificius and many others, with letters to Cicero from the generals and the conspirators themselves.
